Unknown Benefits of Goosegrass

  • It is a species of small, sprawling shrub found in our environment, branching out like a crab's claws. It is known by two names: Goose Grass and Crabgrass.

This medicinal plant is extremely valuable. It can be used as a remedy for several diseases.

  • Cancer: Due to its Anti-Oxidant properties, it has the ability to hinder the growth of cancer cells of any type.

  • Uterine Cysts and Wounds: Its Anti-inflammatory quality can help alleviate problems in the female reproductive system.

  • Kidney Disorders: It is mentioned that this grass has the ability to retain water in the body and quickly expel unnecessary salts or heavy metals from the body through urine.

  • Diabetes: In the past, it was steeped and given to people with diabetes to drink like tea because of its Anti-Diabetic properties (ability to control diabetes).

  • Bleeding and Wounds: Almost everyone knows this one. In the past, when children fell while playing and scraped their limbs, they would chew some of this grass and apply it to the wound. This allows the wounds to heal quickly.

  • Parasites: It can neutralize parasitic animals living inside the bodies of not just humans but any animal within a few minutes. You may have seen dogs and cats eat this and vomit a little while later. That is what this is for.

  • Pneumonia: It is said that if a patient drinks this twice a day for 5 days, the pneumonia will clear up so well that it will be hard to even tell they had it.

  • High Blood Pressure: If this plant is boiled and consumed raw, it can help eliminate cholesterol.

  • Fever: In the past, our people gave the juice of this plant mixed with honey to fever patients to bring the fever down.

  • Muscle Cramps/Spasms: It is said that if you crush this plant and apply the moist paste to the area of the cramp, it gets better in 10-15 minutes.

  • In Traditional Medicine: In traditional practice, Goosegrass (Balathana) is softened (analubml - perhaps a mispronunciation of a local method) with Kotta Pol (a type of coconut) and sesame oil, and applied as a poultice to areas with sprains or dislocations. It is said to bring relief in 3-4 days.
